We Only Come Out at Night

Month

February 2012

2008 wasn't a good year for her apparently

“I think I need to buy a new hoodie” I said this as I noticed the sleeves are starting to stretch and tear.

“Done with Janet?” My friend asked me

“Yeah, it ran it’s course” I didn’t name my hoodie “Janet”. It’s a Janet Jackson hoodie (seriously). A year ago when I was living in Victoria, my friend and I went to Value Village to look around, and that is where I found this hoodie. It’s all black, but on the front of it, it says ” ROCK WIT CHU” In my defense, the only reason that I bought it, was because it reminded me of a 7 Seconds song: “Walk Together Rock Together”

Later in the evening we went for sushi with some friends, and while we were in the parking lot; my friend Layla asks me “Are you wearing a Janet Jackson hoodie?” I respond with “What?! No I’m not!” Little did I know, that on the side of the hood it says “Janet Tour 2008” I flipped out and immediately changed hoodies. Over the course of the year people always ask me “Who’s Janet?”

A month later after moving back home, I was at a coffee shop and waiting in line. A lady next to me turns me and asks me “Is that a Janet Jackson hoodie?” I sighed and said yes it is. She smiled and said “Oh I love Janet!” I seriously could have just left the conversation at that. BUT NO, I just had to tell her the story, and that I didn’t know that it was a Janet hoodie. She responded with “Oh, well 2008 wasn’t a good year for her anyways”

Now when someone asks, I just say “Yep!” and just go about my business.

Late night, driving around with friends
  • Friend: You alright man? You been kinda quiet for a bit
  • Me: What? Oh yeah, I'm good. Just thinking about Gargoyles
  • Friend: The show?
  • Me: Just Gargoyles in general
  • Friend: Aw, man that was a good show
  • Me: It sure was.

what types of girls are you attracted to physically?

If anything, I’m more attracted to features such as their eyes or their smile, or lips. I’m attracted to girls that have a “look” to them. I don’t mean style, but just their general features. It sounds kind of weird when I explain it haha

Were Br0s

I was talking to a good friend of mine on Facebook, and the conversation was pretty generic and usually how our conversations go (were more of a hang out friends rather than talking over in the internet or text friends) After the usual “So whats been going on in life? and blah blah blah” stuff, all of a sudden she says ” I know a lot has changed in life, but I still have a crush on you” I froze for a moment and the only thing I can could reply with was “That was random”

I’m incredibly bad with these situations, not a girl liking me, but a friend liking me, to be more specific; a person that is a friend who I’m not interested in. I immediately wanted to sign off and turn off my computer. But instead we talked a bit more and I suggested we hang out soon. She suggested that I come over, and I quickly said I can’t because I have to get up early.

This has happened in the past. She told me this a few years ago when we were hammered, and we never spoke of it, until now. And as I’m typing this her and I are still talking, and every time I say I can’t come over tonight, she comes up with a way to get me to. I really don’t know how to address this situation, obviously the best way is to be honest, but I really don’t know how to say this. Fuck.

“I’m just astonished at how much you learn as you grow older and how it never stops. When I was 21, I realized that I didn’t know anything at 17, and then at 25, I realized I didn’t know anything at 21, and now at 31, I realized I didn’t know anything at 25. But it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. I’m always wondering if, when I’m 80, am I gonna be looking back to when I was 75 and going, you know, ‘that person didn’t know anything’? When does that process of growing stop?” —Jesse Lacey (via audible—cracks)
